MILWAUKEE – Think there might be some bitterness among union members and their supporters following Tuesday’s resounding election defeat at the hands of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker?

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, the Democratic nominee who lost to Walker in the recall election, did what every gracious loser is supposed to do. He called the governor and congratulated him when the outcome became clear, then gave a short concession speech before a group of his supporters.

But when he was finished speaking, Barrett was approached by a woman who was upset because he conceded while some ballots were still being counted, according to a report from the Huffington Post. The mayor reportedly told her he would like a hug, but when he bent down to embrace her, she slapped him across the face.

Is this how union folks treat their favored politicians when they are no longer of any value? We think Barrett should have the woman arrested for assault. We also think the leaders of Wisconsin’s public sector unions should issue a statement condemning this overzealous moron.

She may or may not be a union member, but her actions reflect badly on the Wisconsin labor movement. After all, the unions were the driving force behind the recall movement, and were responsible for raising the passions of their supporters to the boiling point.

One very stupid union supporter obviously boiled over. Union leaders should condemn this type of behavior as soon as possible.
