MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin’s “nonpartisan” Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Evers is sounding the alarm over updates to the state Department of Natural Resource’s website.

Last month, the Wisconsin DNR updated the website to better reflect a lack of consensus in the scientific community about climate change.

What used to read “Earth’s climate is changing. Human activities that increase heat-trapping (greenhouse) gasses are the main cause,” now reads “The reasons for this change at this particular time in the earth’s long history are being debated and researched by academic entities outside the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.”

The change more accurately represents the current status of science and debate surrounding global warming theory, and takes a neutral stance on any conclusions. But Tony Evers, elected with funding and influence from the state’s teachers union, is not a neutral kind of guy.

An Evers campaign email Friday focused on the WDNR’s edit that alleges the change was a purely political stunt orchestrated by the state’s Republican majority, then uses the same to raise funds for his own re-election.

“References to climate change were removed last month from Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources page. Gov. Scott Walker and his administration should not make politicized changes to Wisconsin’s websites – but that’s exactly what they’ve done,” Evers’ campaign manager Amanda Brink wrote.

“Tony Evers is proud to have always stood up for the scientific community. That’s why teachers and students in Wisconsin still have access to state-operation environmental education sites that discuss climate change. If you believe that science has a place in Wisconsin’s educational system, chip in now to re-elect Tony Evers.”

The message then prompts readers to contribute increments of $5, $25, $50, or a whopping $1,000 to keep the union-backed Evers at the helm of the state’s education department.

What the email doesn’t mention is not all scientists agree that the science supports climate change or global warming theory. It also negates to mention that Evers’ administration has a history of posting politically motivated propaganda on the Department of Education web page.

Evers came under fire in 2013 after EAGnews exposed that a flyer posted to the site that encouraged white high school students to wear white wristbands as “a reminder about your privilege, and as a personal commitment to explain why you wear the wristband.”

Other suggestions on the flyer asked students to “Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working,” and to “Put a note on your mirror or computer screen as a reminder to think about privilege.”

White privilege theory is centered on the far-left political notion that America is hopelessly stacked against minorities, and the only way to heal the racial divide is for white people to feel guilty about their skin color and repent.

The Wisconsin DPI also sponsors several similar far left viewpoints through its CREATE Wisconsin program, a “cultural sensitivity” teacher training program which focuses largely on “whiteness” and “white privilege.”

Evers’ administration quickly pulled the flyer from DPI website after the department received a barrage of calls and complaints, and national media coverage, about the white privilege propaganda, EAGnews reported.

The flyer was then replaced with a statement alleged the suggestions were never used in Wisconsin schools, and blamed EAG for exposing the biased program to begin with.
