SNOWFLAKE, Ariz. – While students at Brown University trashed American flags on campus for Veterans Day and others set fire to Old Glory following Donald Trump’s historic election victory, a small high school in Arizona is taking a different tack.

Snowflake High School students hosted a retired military war veteran to discuss the reason behind Veterans Day and the importance of respecting the American flag as a symbol of the freedoms veterans risk their lives to protect, according to a student blog on the school’s website.

“We started our celebration with an assembly devoted to all the veterans. Our guest speaker was Mr. Blackman, who is a retired veteran who served 22 years on combat. His speech was based upon respecting the flag, and those who are veterans,” the blog read.

“Mr. Blackman told us many stories about the retiring of the flag, and how our flag is involved in war. He told us the details of how a soldier is respected once fallen in combat, and how the flag goes with the fallen soldier from the battlefield all the way to his burial.”

After the assembly, students gathered at the flag pole in front of the school, where the American flag was raised to half-mast by the Snowflake and Taylor police departments.

“We all stood in silence, with our right hand over our heart to pay our respects,” the blog continued. “After the flag was at half mast, Snowflake High School presented a banner to the officers to show our respects towards the police department, and the sacrifice they make to protect the citizens.”

The Lobo Beat, an online magazine for Snowflake High School, published videos of the assembly and flag raising ceremony. As the flag was raised to half mast, students stood motionless, in absolute silence, until a local officer led students in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the National Anthem performed by the school’s chorus.

Not a single student hoisted protest signs or attempted to desecrate the flag. All voluntarily stood in respect for both the Pledge and National Anthem.

The student blog explained why.

“Veterans put forth so much to secure our freedom. Hundreds of American soldiers are killed in combat every year. Over five soldiers were killed in the past week while fighting in Afghanistan,” it read. “These men and women risk their own lives, so we can be able to stand and pay our respects towards the flag.”

The Veterans Day ceremony at Snowflake High School took place as students in numerous other areas of the country spent their time stomping on and burning American flags in protest of Donald Trump’s historic election victory last week.

Protestors took to the streets on Veterans Day in Atlanta, Kansas City, San Francisco, Orlando, New York City, Miami, Iowa and other areas hoisting Mexican and rainbow flags and screaming about various social justice causes, according to numerous social media videos highlighted by The Right Scoop.

Students held a massive social justice rally at Iowa State University, stomped on American flags put out to honor veterans at Brown University, EAGnews reports. The day after the election, students at American University set several American flags on fire.

“This is a representation of America!” a female student yelled as she ignited Old Glory, Breitbart reports. “We are going down in flames!”

Of course, the ceremony at Snowflake High School, and numerous others like it across the country on Veterans Day, provide compelling evidence to the contrary.
