MOBILE, Ala. – An Alabama teen faces criminal charges after police said she used a stun gun on a teacher who attempted to break up a fight between two female students.

The incident, which was recorded on video and posted to Facebook, took place at Mary G. Montgomery High School, where a male teacher intervened in a fight between two female students around 1 p.m. Thursday, AL.com reports.

The video shows one of the girls pinned up against a wall by the teacher, who was temporarily distracted by another student during the melee. When the teacher turned his attention away from the fighting student, the girl pulled out a stun gun and repeatedly zapped the teacher.

Despite the attack, the educator attempted to hold on to the girls arm, but she broke free and dashed off into a crowd of students.

“Sgt. Joseph Mahoney said deputies were able to catch the girl and placed her under arrest,” according to the news site. “She was taken to Strickland Youth Center and charged with felony assault for attacking the teacher and misdemeanor assault for striking the female she was fighting in the face.”

Police and school officials declined to name the student because she is a minor, WPMI reports.

“Why would she have that kind of weapon in school and where did she get it?” [email protected] questioned. “Apparently, she hasn’t had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of the stun gun. … School is not the place to settle insignificant teenage drama.”

“In the real world, a student taking such action would be expelled from the school system and under no circumstances, would be let back in,” legendswithus added. “In today’s world ran by those who are out of touch with the real world, the student would be suspended for a short time and then placed in an alternative school until such time as it was felt the student could be let back in the classroom.

“In places like New York City, the students attack teachers and for the most part, get to run the school and have it their way. It was just a matter of time before we see it elsewhere.”

“We won’t release her name, because she is a minor, but here is the image on video for everyone to see,” another, unidentified, commenter posted to AL.com.

“It should be there for everyone to see,” Yknow2 countered.
