MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The union-funded community organizing group, Wisconsin Jobs Now, listed “white supremacist capitalism” as one of their greivances at a recent “die-in” protest after Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm decided against charges in the police shooting of Dontre Hamilton.

Chisholm is a Democrat.

A post on the Wisconsin Jobs Now website reads:

On December 22, Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm announced his decision to clear former police officer Christopher Manney of all charges in the shooting death of Dontre Hamilton.

Dontre was shot 14 times.

At a die-in at Mayfair Mall, demonstrators announced 14 reasons they can’t breathe:

* I can’t breathe because Wisconsin is the worst state for Black people.
* I can’t breathe because Wisconsin leads the nation in incarceration of Black men.
* I can’t breathe because of the widening income inequality here.
* I can’t breathe because of lack of transit access.
* I can’t breathe because of the defunding of public schools.
* I can’t breathe because of the lack of a living wage.
* I can’t breathe because of the lack of good health care access.
* I can’t breathe because of high infant mortality.
* I can’t breathe because of generational poverty.
* I can’t breathe because of segregation.
* I can’t breathe because of inadequate childcare.
* I can’t breathe because of white supremacist capitalism.
* I can’t breathe because of environmental injustice.
* I can’t breathe because there is no justice for Dontre Hamilton.

The hijacking of the justice for Dontre Hamilton protest movement by Wisconsin Jobs Now, an SEIU funded group, reveals that racial justice and the facts surrounding the Hamilton incident are hardly the true aims of the protests.

As one can see, justice for Dontre Hamilton is at the very bottom of this laundry list of progressive policy goals. And the inclusion of capitalism suggests that this movement is interested far beyond anything that involves police interactions and incidents with the African American community.
