OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Education Association might be the worst teachers union in the entire nation.
It’s not that the OEA is the greediest of the teacher unions; that distinction would go to the Chicago Teachers Union, which is threatening a massive teachers strike if members don’t receive a 30 percent raise. (The runner-up would have to be the Clark County Education Association in Las Vegas, which recently demanded and received a pay raise that resulted in 1,300 young teachers losing their jobs.)
Nor can it be said that the OEA is the least concerned about protecting children from dangerous teachers. That dishonor goes to New York’s United Federation of Teachers, which spares no effort or expense to keep sexual predators in the classroom.
The Oakland Education Association is the most dangerous of all the unions because it’s controlled by fringe leftists who are openly attempting to overthrow our capitalistic economy. They don’t just want a better contract; they want a different country.
Working with the Occupy Oakland Movement, the OEA spreads all kinds of mayhem throughout its community, in order to create chaos and lay the groundwork for its socialistic vision. The OEA’s latest endeavor illustrates this.
Over the past two weeks, the union has been supporting a group of parents, children and “occupiers” who have camped out on the grounds of the recently closed Lakeview Elementary School. The campers were protesting the cash-starved district’s decision to close five elementary schools.
Early Tuesday morning, about 40 police officers “woke 15 to 20 parents and their children before ushering them off” of school grounds, PennLive.com reports.
Most teacher unions would have been content to make their point and go home. But not the OEA.
In a press release, the OEA condemned the action and took the opportunity to stoke the flames of racial tension.
“The final dispersal order was given by OUSD Police Sergeant Barhin Bhatt who murdered an unarmed young black man, Raheim Brown, outside of a school dance in 2011,” the OEA press release reads.
This is especially disgusting because Oakland suffered a race riot just three years ago. For the union to reopen those wounds for quick political gain is inexcusable.
But the OEA wasn’t finished.
Union leaders then took their grievances to Oakland Superintendent Tony Smith’s front lawn, where the displaced campers and various other malcontents shouted slogans, burned sage leaves (“to ward off evil spirits”), and held an open-mike session for impromptu speeches, reports PennLive.com.
That’s the OEA in a nutshell: Having failed to trigger another race riot, they decide to intimidate a school official and his family. Clearly, their radicalism knows no bounds.
They’re not simply fighting for a better teachers contract; they’re attempting to overthrow the American way of life, starting in their own troubled community.
And that’s why the OEA is the most disgusting – and dangerous – of all the teacher unions.
