“This is the kind of crap you see on college campuses,” KFYO News Talk host Chad Hasty ranted on Wednesday. “This is the kind of stuff President Obama needs to talk about. …

“Texas Tech University, they need to do something about this … Because I guarantee you, if it was any, any kind of young Republican, young conservative, college Republican, student government association that had tweeted out about Black Lives Matter, the university would take swift action,” he said.

Texas Tech’s Young Conservatives of Texas highlighted the offensive tweet in a Wednesday Facebook Post.

“We would like to let @TTUBSA (Texas Tech Black Student Association) know that all lives do matter, and that we at the Young Conservatives stand not only with LPD, but all first responders around the nation,” the group wrote.

Texas Tech Black Student Alliance closed its Twitter account and reopened it with a message that did not include an apology, Fox 34 reports.

“A tweet recently was posted that is not indicative of how the Texas Tech Black Student Association feels or what we represent as an organization. We are working diligently to rectify this situation by investigating who originated the tweet, and made a new account.

“We believe that all of us matter. We would like all of your support as we support the unity on this campus, the unity within our community, as well as unity nationwide. We are stronger together!”

Tech Student Democrats couldn’t help but chime in on the issue in a Facebook post, addressing what it referred to as “a false statement about our friends at the Black Student Association of Texas Tech” that’s “being spread around by social media.

“We would like to relay the message that the malicious tweet bearing the Texas Tech BSA’s name is not representative of the organization’s mission,” Tech Student Democrats wrote. “Tech Student Democrats would like to extend our full support to our university’s Black Student Association by urging those who have false statements about the organization to apologize and stand in solidarity with the Black Student Association.”

In other words, Tech Student Democrats believe the Black Student Association that sent out the offensive tweet is the victim.

Texas Tech officials sent out a very brief statement about the situation, Everything Lubbock reports.

“As an institution of higher learning, Texas Tech University is dedicated to an inclusive environment for all and supports our students’ rights to freedom of expression. A recent tweet sent from a student organization account is not representative of the university or the student organization,” the statement read.

It’s unclear whether the school plans to take any action against those responsible.

The Black Student Association was flooded with responses to its non-apology on Twitter yesterday.

“@BSATXTech the reason you deleted your account is because all of the tweets support what you said in the tweet you deleted,” Caleb Hull wrote. “Racists.”

“@BSATXTech @Texas Tech Real reason you deleted your Twitter account is because it showed your tweet is totally representative of your org,” Texas Family Foundation added.

“@BSATXTech just remember, you can delete tweets. But they never go away. Do the right thing and delete your account,” Andrew posted.

“@BSATXTech You should have just kept the account deleted,” Mike DiMaggio added.
