DALLAS – With the surge of immigrants flooding America, officials are trying to find any nook or cranny to put them.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins is considering D. A. Hulcy Middle School is one of three locations to house 2,000 immigrants by the end of July. D. A. Hulcy is located in the Dallas neighborhood of Oak Cliff.

At a protest outside the school, Congressional candidate Eric Williams denounced the idea.

“I don’t want to see children that I don’t even know, but I care about, put in this type of facility,” Williams said, according to NBC 5.

WIlliams says is “a potential for mold, asbestos, lead and other hazardous issues,” the news station reports.

Jenkins is also considering Lamar Alternative School located in Grand Prairie.

ABC 8 reports:

“Out of everywhere in North Texas, why would they pick here in this neighborhood?” asked Hector Sanchez, who lives just down the street from the Grand Prairie school. “I heard they were going to come to North Texas, but I would expect somewhere like downtown Dallas or a bigger city.”

“These will not be children able to walk down to the 7/11 and buy a Slurpee,” the judge said during a recent news conference revealing the sites, “They stay on campus.”

Jenkins said he hopes to have the children in Dallas by the end of July, ABC 8 reports.

“Jenkins says he has heard from detractors — a lot of them,” the news station reports, but that’s apparently not enough for him to rethink using neighborhoods to house immigrants.
