CLEVELAND, Tenn. — A married high school language arts teacher was indicted by a grand jury and arrested Tuesday over allegations she had sex with a 15-year-old former student.

Christie David, 32, is charged with sexual battery following her relationship with the teen, reports the Daily Mail.

David, who is married, was fired from her position at Walker Valley High School in Bradley County.  Authorities are not releasing details of David’s alleged sexual relationship with her student.

Police began an investigation in late September after authorities received a tip about the alleged affair, reports the news site.

David is currently out on $10,000 bond.

Elsewhere in Tennessee, a high school principal resigned after allegations surfaced that he had a long-term relationship with a former student.

Centennial High School Principal Dr. Frank Brown is accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student ten years ago while working at a different school, reports NewsChannel5.com.

Director of Williamson County Schools Mike Looney said he received information that Brown had a sexual relationship with a student while he was a teacher at McGavock High School.  School leaders suggested the relationship continued while Brown was principal at Centennial.

“I expressed my extreme concern.  He listened and we came to a mutual understanding that he should resign,” Looney told the news site.

Looney would not say how the sexual misconduct allegations surfaced.

Brown’s attorney Bryan Pieper denied that Brown was involved in an inappropriate relationship.

“Dr. Brown did briefly date the woman at issue several years ago, but that was years after she had graduated, when she was in her early 20s, and it lasted approximately two months. In more recent years she has contacted him in an attempt to revive a dating relationship, which he rejected,” said Pieper.

Metro Police and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office are not pursuing criminal charges.

Former assistant principal Sandra Joyner, who retired last year, will serve as interim principal until a replacement can be found for Brown.
