ROSENBERG, Texas – A Texas middle school teacher is on administrative leave after she accidentally showed her students a photo of her topless during class.

The teacher was not identified by school officials or the media, but the principal at Wessendorf Middle School in Rosenberg told parents a teacher inadvertently displayed an image of herself topless on a big screen to students in her second period class, KHOU 11 reports.

“She should have at least looked at what was going to be presented before she did it,” parent LaVerne Alvarado told the news site. “It’s kind of a scary thing.”

Officials with the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District would not discuss the incident, citing federal and state privacy laws.

The teacher is not facing criminal charges, but the district is conducting an investigation into the incident, according to KHOU 11.

At least one parent thought the incident shouldn’t ruin the teacher’s career.

“Anyone can make a mistake,” Wessendorff dad Steve Chapman told the news site.

Several other commenters online seemed to agree with Chapman.

“It’s not like she was doing it on purpose, everyone makes mistakes!” Tammy T. ho posted.

“The person with no sin cast the first stone,” Stanley Berry wrote, “the rest leave it be.”

Others, like Debbie Anhaiser, had no problem throwing stones.

“Seriously? These are children she showed that to,” Anhaiser wrote in response to Berry. “It might have been a mistake but she should have checked her lesson before showing it to the class. And besides, how did the picture get into her lesson anyway if she didn’t place it there? Just asking.”

“Mistake my ass. She’s a teacher, she should have known better,” Hortencia Mata wrote.

Bee Maccerly suggested there could also be an upside to sharing the nudie image with students.

“Well, I bet those students make sure to pay attention in class now,” Maccerly posted.

Some also thought there is a double standard at play.

“Oh my God she showed her nipples!” WittyComments posted to the Houston Chronicle. “If it were a male teacher showing his bare chest it wouldn’t be a big deal at all. Perhaps a little embarrassing but not something to get fired or suspended over. Why do we have such a double standard? Why are female breasts, and specifically their accompanied nipples sexualized, but a male’s breast and nipples are not?”
