CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina educator faces nine felony charges after she allegedly sent students nude pictures, as well as a video “of her nude performing lewd acts,” WSOCTV.com reports.

“There is no question in our mind who is in the video. Who made the video. We know exactly who was in the video,” Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Joel Shores told the television station.

Caron Blanton, 34, resigned from her science teaching position at Burns Middle School April 10 after officials at the school discovered several inappropriate pictures and the video on the cell phones of two students. District officials confiscated the phones and contacted the sheriff’s office in early April, the New York Daily News reports.

The former teacher allegedly sent the images to two students over the course of a couple years, starting while the students were in middle school and continuing into high school. The photos started off fully clothed, but became more provocative with bikini shots, then nudity, according to the news site.

Blanton, of Mooresboro, turned herself in to police Tuesday and faces three counts of indecent liberties with a child under 16 and six counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor, the Charlotte Observer reports.

School officials sent a brief letter to parents referencing Blanton’s resignation, but did not provide details of the allegations.

Blanton’s attorney, who appeared in court on her behalf Wednesday, declined to comment on the case.

Police said the teacher recorded the inappropriate images at her home and not on school property, WSOCTV.com reports.
