COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. – A 27-year-old high school choir and drama teacher has been arrested on allegations that she had sexual relationships with two 17-year-old students.
Amanda Rowles, who teaches at Calhan High School in Colorado Springs, was booked on two counts of sexual assault by one in a position of trust, according to a news report from the DailyMail.com. She was freed after posting a $50,000 bond.
Police began investigating the teacher after receiving a tip, according to the news report.
One student allegedly told police that he had sexual relations with Rowles at least 40 times over a six-month span, beginning in December, 2011. The boy said they would go on hikes to be alone, or to the home of the teacher’s mother when it was not occupied.
Another boy said Rowles rejected his sexual advances in the spring of 2011 before giving in. She eventually ended the relationship, the news report said.
