VANCOUVER, Wash. – An Evergreen High School student thought her teacher was acting weird in class Monday afternoon, but it wasn’t until her classmates showed her pictures that she realized what he was up to.

The image showed her teacher with his hand under her desk holding his cell phone with the camera turned on. The teen told school officials she believes the teacher was trying to snap shots or videos up her skirt, and she felt “violated” by the ordeal, Fox Q13 reports.

“I felt disgusted and grossed out,” the girl said. “He was leaning awkwardly and sitting weird, and he kept clearing his throat and grunting while he was looking down.”

“At the time I didn’t really realize what was going on because I wasn’t expecting something like this to happen, and then when I found out it all kind of added up what he was doing,” she told KPTV.

Portland, Oregon’s KATU reports the incident occurred on the third to last day of school, and administrators took immediate action when alerted.

“During my next period we went to the office and the security guards to talk about it, and then I called my mom and she came to the school,” the girl told the news site.

District officials issued a statement about the “potentially inappropriate behavior by a teacher in a classroom,” and placed the unnamed teacher on paid leave during the police investigation, KPTV reports.

“Vancouver Police were immediately called in to begin an investigation. Evergreen High School is cooperating fully with the investigation and will take any necessary action based on the findings …,” the statement read.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp told KATU the school resource officer is heading the investigation and “has a lot of work to do on his end.”

The victim’s mother pulled her daughter out of the school.

“I think they’re taking it a little more seriously but I hope they just don’t try to ignore it,” she told KPTV. “That’s something a pedophile does. It’s not normal.”

The alleged cell phone peeper is the second teacher at Evergreen to come under investigation this year for sexually inappropriate behavior.

English and drama teacher Stephanie McCrea, 35, was arrested in January for her sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student. Court documents allege the two set up fake Facebook accounts to communicate undetected, KATU reports.

The victim told police he met with McCrea in her office four or five days per week and the two would kiss and have sex. The relationship alleged started in December and escalated to sex during Christmas break at McCrea’s home, and in her office when school resumed.

McCrea, who has one child but no criminal record, pleaded not guilty to charges of third-degree child rape, sexual misconduct with a minor and tampering with a witness. She’s currently on administrative leave and is free on a $40,000 bail while awaiting trial, according to the Columbian.
