A statement provided by the district says an incident involved several students “and a substitute teacher using a stapler.”

“The substitute teacher was directed to leave the building immediately and told not to return in the future,” school principal J.B. Smith said in the statement.

“The school nurse examined the students for injuries and puncture wounds.”

The school wouldn’t release the name of the teacher or additional details, such as how many students were involved.

The Johnson City Press adds, “A receptionist at the Giles County Board of Education said no one at the district could answer additional questions.”

The principal say there is an “ongoing investigation” by the school and other agencies.
