IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – The trial of John Thomas Patterson – a retired fourth-grade teacher facing 110 charges of sex crimes against students – dredged up disturbing testimony from former students who claim he molested them. Patterson retired from teaching at Mt. Mourne Elementary School in Iredell County, N.C., in 1987.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, the United Nations criticized the Vatican for what the “Committee Against Torture” panel has referred to as an inadequate response to child sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church. Once again, the UN has resurrected the hyped-up fear over so-called “pedophile priests,” while ignoring the ongoing epidemic of teachers having sex with students.
