Horny teachers are preying on high school students through social media, soliciting nude images and videos from naïve teens that are costing some their careers.

South Carolina’s Department of Education suspended the teaching certificate for Battery Creek High School teacher Ryan Jackson last month after learning of allegations of “inappropriate communications” with a 17-year-old female student at his previous school in Georgia, The Island Packet reports.

Jackson was hired by the Beaufort County School District in August 2018, as he appealed a decision by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to revoke his teaching certificate. Jackson agreed to a license suspension about a week after he was hired, but his troubles eventually caught up with him.

Jackson resigned his position at Wilkinson County High School in McIntyre, Georgia in November 2017 when the grandparent of the student raised concerns about Facebook messages from Jackson. The 17-year-old told the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Jackson asked for nude photos and a video chat to watch her “play with herself” through Facebook Messenger and repeatedly pressured the girl for sex, according to The Macon Telegraph.

Jackson admitted to investigators that he contacted the student through Facebook and asked her to delete messages between them, which she did, but denied asking his student for inappropriate images or video. A lie detector later “revealed that he was being deceptive,” according to the Georgia commission’s case summary.

Prosecutors were unable to charge Jackson because investigators were unable to recover the deleted messages, and he simply moved across state lines to get a job at Battery Creek. He had taught biology, British literature and physical science at Wilkinson County High School for 17 years, the Telegraph reports.

In hiring Jackson, Beaufort County officials conducted a criminal background check, called the teacher’s references, conducted interviews and checked to ensure his South Carolina teacher’s license was valid, but encountered no red flags, district spokesman Jim Foster told the Island Packet.

Officials did not review the teacher’s social media history or perform a simple Google news search for Jackson, which would have revealed his troubles in Georgia.

Last month, the South Carolina Department of Education suspended Jackson’s teaching certificate for the palmetto state for failure to “disclose the Georgia investigation and suspension,” according to a disciplinary action report.

New Jersey high school gym teacher was arrested Friday for similar sexual solicitation of students.

West Milford High School teacher Christopher Shenise faces charges of second degree child endangerment, second degree official misconduct and fourth degree cruelty/neglect of a child after West Milford Police allege the 32-year-old offered to pay a female student for nude pictures, NJ.com reports.

According to NJ 101.5:

Shenise engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with a 17-year-old victim in November 2018, specifically by asking for sexual videos in exchange for money, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Caldes.

The girl was a student at the school at the time.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Freid told NJ.com there was also “implied behavior with a second student,” though he declined to elaborate.

Shenise’s employment status is unclear, though unionized New Jersey educators typically receive paid leave during criminal proceedings.
