OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A 2012 Oklahoma City Teacher of the Year faces criminal charges for sending a video of herself masturbating to a student at Douglass High School, police said.

A Douglass High School principal called police about inappropriate messages between 51-year-old Victoria Dacalio and an 18-year-old student last Monday, and she was arrested the next day on two counts of indecent exposure, KFOR reports.

“Sex crimes detectives with Oklahoma City said one of the text messages on a student’s phone contained a video in which … Dacalio was naked and masturbating,” according to the news site.

Police reports state the geometry teacher often befriended students outside of school and “has a history of allowing Douglass students to live at her house and drive her vehicle.”

The Mirror reports Dacalio’s alleged masturbation video was two minutes and 10 seconds long.

“The indecent exposure charge comes from her sending text messages to an 18-year-old student that involved her exposing herself explicitly and illegally,” Oklahoma City Police MSgt. Gary Knight told KFOR.

District officials suspended Dacalio, who has been employed by the district since 2008, and launched an internal investigation, News OK reports.

They also issued a prepared statement about her arrest that essentially laid out the accusations without naming Dacalio.

“On April 11, 2016, Douglass Mid-High administrators were notified about a teacher who possibly had inappropriate contact with a student and shared a sexually explicit video. Administrators at the school immediately notified Oklahoma City police, and the district started an internal investigation,” the statement read.

“April 12, 2016, the teacher was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the ongoing investigation. Oklahoma City Police have arrested the teacher. The teacher has been employed with the Oklahoma City Public School District since 2008.”

KFOR reports Dacalio has taught geometry at Douglass High School throughout her career with Oklahoma City schools and won a Teacher of the Year award in 2012.

Parents, of course, were outraged to learn of Dacalio’s arrest.

“She’s wrong for doing something like that,” Bill Fashion, father of two Douglass students, told KFOR. “She should honor her profession.”

“We livin in a sick time,” he said.
