TUSZYN, Poland – A half-bare bear is apparently too much for one town to bear.

The Tuszyn, Poland town council has banned pictures of Winnie the Pooh because of his “dubious sexuality” and “inappropriate” dress.

The issue came up when it was proposed that Pooh become the patron of the local playground.

“The cartoon bear’s image was banned from a playground in the small Polish city of Tuszyn because members of the town council believe him to be a hermaphrodite,” according to UPI.

“It doesn’t wear underpants because it doesn’t have a sex. It’s a hermaphrodite,” said one councilor, the news service reports.

“This is very disturbing but can you imagine! The author was over 60 and cut his [Pooh’s] testicles off with a razor blade because he had a problem with his identity,” Councillor Hanna Jachimska says.

“The problem with that bear is it doesn’t have a complete wardrobe. It is half naked which is wholly inappropriate for children,” another town official, Ryszard Cichy, is quoted by USA Today as saying.

The councilors’ comments were reportedly secretly recorded and leaked to the local media.

When they were aired, town officials were less than impressed.

According to Fox News, “Seeking answers from the unnamed female counsellor, a Polish journalist was told she was too ‘argumentative’ and that she did not ‘understand anything’ before having the door shut in her face.”
