ALBANY, N.Y. – The New York Department of Education website has been directing those with Common Core questions to a special kind of telephone service.

Call me wink, pointEngageNY is the state’s go-to Common Core website, according to the Democrat and Chronicle. Teachers, school administrators and parents visit the website if they have questions about which subjects are being taught in which grade or if they want to see examples of lesson plans.

But when users recently logged on to the site and tried to connect with tech support, they were given a phone number to a very friendly service.

People who called the number as were greeted with a perky female voice announcing, “Welcome to America’s hottest talk line! Ladies, press one to talk to interesting and exciting guys. Guys press two to talk to hot ladies,” the story reports.

Tom Dunn, spokesmen for the education department, said in the news story that officials took the site down as soon as they were alerted to the problem and were investigating how it happened.

We can add this to the already long list of puzzling and disturbing issues associated with Common Core.
