From News 12 New Jersey:

A teacher discovered a live bedbug on a student and send the child immediately to the nurse.

“It was still alive, she killed it,” says West New York Superintendent John Fauta. “She examined the child and there was no bite of any sort.”

“The classroom was cleaned thoroughly and school officials were told there is no infestation in the school,” according to WABC.

“What we do on a periodic basis as a precaution when school is not in session, Thanksgiving, Christmas, holidays, we do a fumigation of a lot of the schools,” Fauta says.

“There have been incidents every once in awhile but in this case the bed bug was found and destroyed. I’m satisfied that it’s not an epidemic.”

“While not known to be life-threatening, the appleseed-sized pests do feast on human blood and their bites can irritate the skin. The insects can also be difficult to eliminate from homes and businesses,” NJ.com reports.
