WASHINGTON, D.C. – It’s always fun to listen to teachers union officials say we need to keep public education out of politics, then watch them turn around and donate millions of dollars to political candidates, almost all of them Democrats.
The unions’ favorite Democrat, President Barack Obama, was recently in need of some post-election assistance, and of course his Big Labor friends were there to help.
The National Education Association allowed Organizing for Action, a new nonprofit that’s been formed out of the remains of Obama’s re-election campaign, to use office space in its Washington, D.C. headquarters for free during its organizational phase, according to TheHill.com.
The free rent counted as an in-kind contribution of $15,466 to the organization, according to the news report.
So the unions do everything they can to support Democrats, even in non-election years, and Democrats attack Republicans. So union leaders should not be surprised when they find themselves under attack by Republicans.
If you’re going to participate in the war, you’re going to get shot at. It does no good to try to hide behind millions of hard-working teachers and their students. The teachers unions are first-and-foremost political organizations, using public schools (and public dollars) to launch their left-wing political agendas.
