MADISON, Wis. – Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may be an early frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, but not everyone on the Left is excited about it. John “Sly” Sylvester, an outspoken pro-union liberal radio talkshow host in Madison, added his voice recently to the growing chorus of liberal and Democrat concern about Clinton’s potential bid for the White House.

On September 16, “Sly” hosted a discussion called “voting for Hillary is like…”. During the segment, Sly invited callers to compare voting for Clinton to something else, usually distasteful. The comparisons given included going to the dentist, getting a colonoscopy, getting a prostate exam, and – possibly most oddly – chewing on aluminum foil.

Sly himself preferred the comparison of cheating on one’s spouse. He expressed disdain for Hillary stating that he finds her “extremely annoying” but he also doubts that anyone can mount a serious primary challenge to her if she ran.

A story in the Washington, D.C.-based The Hill newspaper recently detailed a number of prominent movers and shakers on the Left who are upset about the prospect of a Clinton candidacy. According to emails reviewed by The Hill, and exchanged over the Gamechanger Salon network, some influential activists and opinion leaders on the Left believe Clinton is not with them on some big issues. One piece of evidence cited was Clinton’s vote in favor of going to war in Iraq.

One-time candidate for Governor of New York, Huffington Post contributor, and Game Changer Salon member Zephyr Teachout called for more extreme candidates to run against Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary. She expressed concern that the former First Lady might not be liberal enough. Teachout is part of a growing faction on the Left seeking to drive Democrats further to the Left. Despite not having mainstream support, Teachout managed to capture a surprising 34% of the vote in the New York Democratic primary this year.
