NEW YORK – A Brooklyn high school is plagued with a second teacher-student sex scandal in a week after a state appeals court ruled a former teacher from the school should not be fired for calling a student his “little sex slave.”

Former Brooklyn Technical High School social studies teacher Steven Ostrin, 61, retired on disability following a six-month suspension in 2005 and a five-year stint in the city’s union-created rubber room for bad teachers, after making lewd and sexually suggestive remarks to his female students.

In 2002, Ostrin told one girl she was “hot” and “probably had a great figure under that sweatshirt,” the New York Post reports.

In another instance, in 2005, Ostrin hugged and kissed a 15-year-old sophomore that he named his “little sex slave.” He also invited her to his house, according to the news site.

City school officials tried to fire Ostrin for his “predatory and unrepentant behavior,” but union negotiated discipline process, which is grossly tilted in teachers’ favor, resulted in only a six-month unpaid suspension. This week, a panel of state appeals judges ruled 5-0 to uphold the punishment.

The news comes on the heels of revelations about another Brooklyn Tech teacher – Sean Shaynak – who stands accused of taking female students to a sex club and nude beach, supplying them with alcohol, and other outrageous behavior.

Shaynak was arrested last month and charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual acts, obscenity and forcible touching, Newsday reports.

Shaynak brought one student “to a sex club out of state where he performed sex acts on other people and other people performed sex acts on him in the presence of the victim,” Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Joseph Mancino told News.com.au.

Mancino said Shaynak bought the girl cigarettes and “took her on a terrifying car ride during which he screamed she couldn’t tell her parents,” according to the news site.

Other victims he allegedly took to a nude beach and plied with Jack Daniels and tequila, encouraged to have lesbian relations, and talked into threesomes. Police believe Shaynak had inappropriate relationships with at least seven female students, according to media reports.

Shaynak, of course, will continue to collect his $52,744 base salary as he waits in the “rubber room” for while his case plays out.

The school’s problems are also all the more embarrassing and ironic because district’s ability to do away with these pervs is hampered by the overly arduous process imposed by the United Federation of Teachers, the city’s teachers union and one of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s biggest supporters.
