HONOLULU – Those who have seen the Planned Parenthood/University of Hawaii curriculum Pono Choices often refer to it as Porno Choices—a name which is much more accurate than the totally deceptive “pono” (healthy) choices tag put on it by its developers.

Representative Bob McDermott has declared the curriculum dead after the powers that be assented—under great pressure from him and other parents—to make the program an opt-in rather than opt-out course and promised to cease referring to the anus as a sex organ. His feeling was that the program has been sufficiently “stinkified” by those who have worked so hard to expose it such that parents will not opt their children into the program.

The University of Hawaii, however, still giddy from the two million dollars it received in conjunction with Planned Parenthood and other partners to develop and implement the repugnant sex instruction for middle schoolers, came out immediately after Rep. McDermott’s proclamation with its own proclamation: Pono Choices is not dead.

Which is it? We sincerely hope that Representative McDermott is correct. On the other hand, we must not lose sight of the fact that Planned Parenthood and the University of Hawaii have received millions of dollars in federal funding to develop and implement the program and that there is more money in the pipeline for them if it is fully implemented. Planned Parenthood and its cronies will not give up easily.

Planned Parenthood’s success in foisting its sex instruction on children is, at the end of the day, the fruit of its evasiveness, deceit, and tenacity. That is coupled with the fact that most parents still trust the schools to do the right thing for their children and are totally unaware of what Planned Parenthood is doing to them.

But in Hawaii, the opposition to Pono Choices continues to grow. The battle is led by a tenacious state representative, and supported by many other members of the state legislature. Those working to expose the program have made presentations to parents all across the islands exposing the depravity of the program. As opposition grows and the fight escalates—with parents stepping up across the board to withhold their children from the program—they have an excellent chance of overcoming the millions of dollars in funding that fuels the program. Knowing that Planned Parenthood will continue to come after the children of Hawaii, Representative McDermott has founded the Ohana Policy Group, a nonprofit organization that funds the research and documentation of questionable government policies. Its “Sexualization of the Innocent” section will maintain vigil against the horrid designs that Planned Parenthood and its cohorts have on the children of Hawaii.

Congratulations to Representative McDermott; our colleagues and friends Susan Duffy, Edie Pasion, and all those in Hawaii who refuse to sit back and let Planned Parenthood destroy their children. We look forward to the day when Planned Parenthood and Pono Choices have the welcome mat pulled from under them in Hawaii.
