TOLEDO, Ohio – An Ohio teen is getting a lot of attention after he aced both the SAT and ACT college entrance tests.

“Standardized tests, I’ve always been kind of good at,” St. John’s Jesuit High School senior Conner Long told WTOL 11. “I tend to be able to get inside the test maker’s head and just know what they’re looking for.”

Long, who was homeschooled until high school, credits his 2400 SAT and 36 ACT scores to his support from home, hours of studying and the excellent learning environment at the private, all-male school. The perfect scores, however, are not a guaranteed golden ticket to any college, he said.

“It’s a really cool experience to have these scores, the college environment is getting so much more competitive these days, that they’re not just looking for test scores and things like that anymore, which makes it even more difficult,” Long said.

The Toledo teen said he’s narrowed his top college picks to three schools: the University of Michigan, Ithaca College and Baldwin Wallace University.

“When it comes to this I really want my college years to be about my development and then trying to go into the work force after that,” Long said.

Long’s double perfect scores is a rarity, but not unheard of.

Numerous students received perfect scores on both tests last year. The statistic for a perfect SAT last year was about .03 of the 1.7 million students who took the test, or about 583 students, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

For the ACT, only about one-tenth of 1 percent of the 1.85 million students who took the test last year – about 1,407 – earned a perfect 36, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The total number of students who aced both tests is unclear, but they included Parkway North senior Abby Lammers, Reno High School senior Tyler Hart, Loveless Academic Magnet school junior Grant Prater, University High School junior Fayyaz Ahamed, Memphis University School senior Richard Ouyang, Lincoln High School senior Theodora Mautz, Lincoln East High School senior Erin Cooney, Millard North High School senior Celine Qiu, Holy Spirit Preparatory school senior Meredith Jones, Half Hollow Hills West senior Joshua Wende, and 15-year-old St. Joseph High School senior Love Osunnuga – who also aced her PSAT – among others.

Interestingly, many of the students who took home perfect scores on both tests last year were homeschooled for the majority of their school careers.
