PARK FOREST, Ill. – An Illinois high school teacher has been placed on paid leave due to allegations of inappropriate contact with a student.

The male math teacher at Rich East High School in Park Forest, Ill is facing possible dismissal and further disciplinary action for allegedly having unspecified but clearly unacceptable contact with a student, according to a report by the Chicago Sun Times.

This is not the first allegation of this type against a teacher in the school district. It’s the third reported this year and the fourth in the past five years.

Just a month ago the school board fired social studies teacher Rocco Rado for entering into an inappropriate personal relationship with a student in his homeroom class. The exact nature of the relationship was not disclosed.

Bryan Craig, a girls basketball coach and guidance counselor, was fired in September after writing a crude self-help book that includes comments about the female anatomy and how women can please men sexually. He used the book to encourage women to conduct themselves in a sexually promiscuous manner.

In 2010, former teacher Sarah Tolzien admitted to twice having sex with a 16-year-old boy. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sexual abuse and was placed on probation and the sex offender list.

This trend is clearly becoming frustrating for school officials.

“We’re not hiring people to come in and be inappropriate” school board President Betty Owens told the Sun Times. “We do all the necessary background checks. I wish I had a crystal ball, that’s all I can say.”
