LA CROSSE, Wis. – A first year resident hall director at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse issued an apology but avoided termination for sending an email to hundreds of students about female orgasms.

Drake Hall director Jude Legiste emailed all of the students in his building an article Sept. 30 titled “A Guide To Making Her Come Without Using Your Dick,” which delved into the “orgasm deficit” – or the “fact” that “a large majority of women can’t reach orgasm from penis-in-vagina intercourse alone … and, worse, some men don’t seem to even realize it!”

The article, originally written by a layer from New Zealand, discussed in crude terms how bumbling insecure men make it difficult for women to orgasm, and explains how to fix many of the most common mistakes. An image accompanying the email – which was sent at 11:46 p.m. with the subject “You Gone Learn Today!!” – depicts a man polishing a pearl inside of a massive clam.

WISN News Talk radio host Mark Belling and WIBA talk radio host Vicki McKenna called Legiste out on the email, which prompted another email Oct. 1 acknowledging he made a mistake, the Badger Pundit reports.

“Some viewed it as helpful and an honest conversation on a topic that rarely gets discussed,” Legiste wrote, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Others see it as offensive, creepy and that it was not my place (as the hall director) to send it in the first place. I want to validate all those feelings. So let’s talk about it.”

Legiste told the Journal Sentinel his supervisors called him into a meeting to talk about the complaints they received from students and parents about the email, but didn’t fire him. Legiste said he also heard from students and parents and now realizes the email was a bad idea, though he maintains there’s a dire need to discuss female orgasms.

“It’s more than sex,” he told the newspaper. “That’s where we’re most human, and if people don’t have equality at that level, it’s not going to happen anywhere else.”

UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow said Legiste’s email was “clearly unacceptable behavior” and will be sure he receives a letter of reprimand, the Journal Sentinel reports.

The Badger Pundit pointed out multiple social media posts that show Gow and Legiste are buddies.

The site also posted two emails sent to McKenna from UW La Crosse parents describing a broader effort by the school to sexualize students.

“La Crosse is holding an event tonight on campus to educate the students about how to have an orgasm,” one parent wrote. “My son is currently a freshman at UWLAX and I am totally disgusted by this. He is not in Drake Hall so he did not receive the email but is aware of tonight’s event as there are signs hanging around campus.”

“I toured the campus last Friday with my daughter who is graduating from high school this spring,” another parent wrote. “In front of the entrance of the first building we toured someone had written in chalk in very large letters ‘I Heart orgasms.’ Needless to say, my original thought was, was have they not cleaned this up prior to any college tours? Much to my surprise, in every building we subsequently toured there were pre-printed posters advertising this event. I did not inquire as to what the vent was but I did notice it was sponsored by Pride?”

Legiste issued a third email to Drake Hall students Sunday to apologize for sending the female orgasm email.

As posted to the Badger Pundit:

To the entire Drake community: I am sorry.

My entire mission is to create a community in which people feel safe and welcomed. The email I sent out earlier this week was the antithesis of everything I want Drake to be. As your hall director, it is my job to role model appropriate behavior, inclusiveness, and develop community. I failed you in all those aspects and more. This bad decision led to lots of hurt for many residents and it is important for me to acknowledge this.

To be clear, the email was inappropriate and I was wrong to send it out, no matter my intentions or underlying rationale. The email was sent on my own volition and I take full responsibility for it. While I do not believe that the email is indicative of my character, I would be remiss to not reevaluate my thoughts, behaviors and interactions with you all. I must do better and I will do better.

I must also recognize that I have damaged my relationship with many of you. It is very understandable if you no longer want to have any interactions with me. I can only ask that you give me a chance to restore your faith in me as your hall director.

Once again. I am sorry and I was wrong.
