STAMFORD, Conn. – A Connecticut high school English teacher faces multiple criminal charges after she allegedly threatened to fail a student if he didn’t have sex with her.

Police allege Stamford High School teacher Danielle Watkins, 32, also supplied two students – one 18 years old, the other 15 years old – with marijuana on a regular basis, which the teens would smoke on and off campus, the Stamford Advocate reports.

“It’s very upsetting,” Superintendent Winifred Hamilton told the news site. “All our resources and support will go out to the families.”

Watkins was suspended towards the end of the school year, when initial reports of her inappropriate behavior with students was reported to human resources. A former student also reported the teacher’s conduct to Hamilton, who immediately called police.

Watkins’ 18-year-old victim reported the teacher’s activities to the authorities, as well, according to the Advocate.

“Police launched an investigation into the allegations on June 26 after the 18-year-old student appeared at police headquarters and provided a statement about the inappropriate relationship. The victim allegedly told police that he had numerous sexual encounters with Watkins, his English teacher, from the start of the school year in September 2013 to the end of June,” the Advocate reports.

“In addition, he told police that Watkins provided him and a friend with marijuana and they would smoke it on and off school grounds during school hours.”

The teacher’s alleged sexual misdeeds took place off campus, according to the news site.

Following the student’s report, officers executed a search warrant on Watkins’ car the next day and discovered marijuana in the vehicle. A search of her cell phone records revealed “over 2,000 test messages, naked pictures of herself and hundreds of calls between her and the student,” the Advocate reports.

The 15-year-old student also told police Watkins gave the students marijuana and rolling papers on many occasions, and would get high with the students on school grounds during school hours, according to the news site.

Watkins, who has taught for 10 years in the district, hasn’t had any previous employment problems, but Hamilton vowed to terminate her employment immediately if she’s found guilty.

The teacher turned herself in to police Thursday, and faces two counts of sexual assault, two counts of selling marijuana and one count of risk of injury to a minor.

She was released on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court at the end of the month, the news site reports.
