RESTON, Va. – A South Lakes High School teacher faces a slew of criminal charges after police contend she conspired with a student to steal beer from a store, then went to her place for an evening of drugs and alcohol.

Surveillance video from an Exxon Station in Reston shows Fabiana Alicia Ciammaichella, 30, distracted a cashier as one of her students, 18-year-old sophomore Adelmo Ernesto Arias Guillen, stashed a six-pack of beer under his shirt and left the store, Fairfax County Police told WJLA.

Ciammaichella allegedly picked up Guillen outside of the store and drove to her home. Police used the vehicle’s license plate number to track the two to Ciammaichella’s home, where they allegedly found them with the beer, and a variety of illegal drugs police believe to be cocaine or LSD and marijuana, according to Reston Now.

“This is now an ongoing police investigation, as well as a personnel issue, and I’m not at liberty to discuss this in any detail beyond what (the police statement says),” SLHS principal Kim Retzer said in a statement.

Retzer said Ciammaichella is currently suspended from her teaching position over the “unfortunate” situation, NBC Washington reports, though it’s unclear whether she’s on paid or unpaid leave.

Ciammaichella did not have anything to say to WJLA, and referred questions to an attorney she has not yet hired.

“I have no statement to make,” she said.

The news site points out that the Spanish teacher was named to a committee for Fairfax County schools to consider and recommend changes to the student discipline process.

Of course, numerous folks sounded off about the arrests on Facebook.

“18 year old sophomore?” Matt Elliott wrote. “I don’t know which one is dumber. Him or her.”

“So she’s old enough and has a job. Why didn’t she buy the beer?” Janeth James questioned. “Unless she was already high (and not on life.)”

“That’s the kind of people we have making decisions in our kids life,” Ulee-kenneth Brewster posted. “This woman is despicable, absolutely no moral correctness.”

“Teachers aren’t the stand up role models they used to be!” Tina Davis Robinson wrote.

“I’m just at a loss for words,” Nichoel Gray added.

“She’s beyond stupid,” Lorraine Tynes-Easley wrote.
