PALM SPRINGS, Fla. – A Florida principal faces criminal charges after she was allegedly busted in a parked car, possibly smoking pot with one of her students.

Krista Eve Morton, the 45-year-old principal of Mavericks High of Palm Springs charter school, was arrested by North Palm Beach Police who responded to a call of suspected sexual activity in a parked car around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

“The person who called 911 said they thought either people were engaged in sexual activity or they were being attacked,” according to the news site.

Police responded found Morton in a parked car at Riverside Park with an 18-year-old male. Morton allegedly told officers she just met the teen when she picked him up on the side of the road. Morton said she was lonely, and they were “just friends,” though the officer noted her “shirt was unbuttoned exposing her shoulders and part of her chest,” according to the police report cited by WPTV.

The duo also reportedly reeked of pot, prompting the officer to search the vehicle. In the passenger’s seat was a plastic bag with less than 20 grams of reefer, a lighter and rolling papers, according to the television station.

The Sun-Sentinel reports “Morton would not say whether she had been smoking marijuana, but did tell police that marijuana had been smoked, according to the report.”

The student allegedly told the officer Morton was his high school principal, and Morton eventually conceded she is the head of Mavericks High.

“It’s very disappointing,” parent Brenda Anyzeski told WPTV. “You send your child to school every day and look what happens.”

Both Morton and the teen were charged with possession of marijuana. The student was not named in media reports. He had been arrested previously for marijuana possession, according to the news site.

Anyzeski took the opportunity to expose other issues she’s had with Morton in the past.

She told WPTV her daughter, Bryanna, is a senior at the school, and officials recently confiscated her cell phone. When she asked for it back at the end of the day, it was missing. The family filed a police report over the incident, but Morton didn’t seem to think it was a big deal, Anyzeski said.

“She just said, I’d just buy her another one,” Anyzeski alleges Morton told her husband.

Morton’s arrest generated quite a discussion online.

“Oh my gosh! That’s my principal, I can’t believe such a thing!” Winni Stayin Strong posted to Facebook.

“An 18-year-old banging his 45-year-old principal and smoking a little dope in a car half-dressed, who could find anything wrong with that?” Matt Chambers commented.

“What a dipsh*t, yeah until it’s some creepy 45-year-old guy like yourself doing it with an 18-year-old female student. Hope to hell you don’t have kids, at least not daughters,” Will Drucker responded.

“Dude it was sarcastic,” Chambers countered. “I think she needs to rot in jail.”

School officials and district board members did not return a call from WPTV.
