The owner of the child care facility, 24-year-old Nadia Choudhry, not only allegedly failed to report the incident to Child Protective Services as required by law, but also encouraged staff members at the school to keep the incident quiet, the news site reports.

Choudhry faces a criminal charge of failure to report child abuse or neglect.

“A women who answered the phone at the Goddard School Monday said Ms. Brown no longer works at the preschool and that officials at the school ‘are cooperating with police,’” according to the Times.

Prince William County Police Officials said Brown bit the child hard enough to leave a clear bite mark on the child’s shoulder, the Associated Press reports.

Despite Choudhry’s alleged attempt to keep the incident from authorities it was reported anonymously to Child Protective Services the next day.

Many commenters on the story were clearly upset by the teacher’s actions.
