BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green police are exposing Bowling Green State University student Eleesha Long as a liar after she allegedly concocted a story about being attacked by Trump supporters the day after his historic election victory.

Long alleged on Facebook that she was walking down Crim Street to ask for yard signs when three white males wearing Trump shirts yelled profanity her way and threw rocks at her, but she did not report the incident to police, ABC 13 reports.

Long’s post drew a significant reaction online, which caught the attention of Bowling Green police. Officers contacted the 24-year-old’s parents, who said they had not heard from her since the incident. A campus police officer took long to the police for a statement, which is when he story began to unravel, according to the news site.

“Several times the complaintant changed her story about what happened, where it happened and when it happened,” Bowling Green police Lt. Dan Mancuso said.

Police then obtained a search warrant for Long’s Facebook account and phone records to sort out her statement.

“Based on that information, it proved that she was not in the location that of when she said it occurred,” Mancuso told ABC 13.

Officers also uncovered text messages with friends and family that exposed her rage against Trump supporters.

“The police report is laced with racist remarks against Trump supporters that she sent to her boyfriend and mother,” the news site reports. “According to reports, she used words like, ‘this is why you should take an IQ test to vote,’ ‘I hope they all get AIDS,’ (and) ‘I haven’t met a decent Trump supporter yet.’”

Police charged long with falsifying a police report and obstructing official business, though she told ABC 13 she plans to fight the charges.

Several students at BGSU said they were disappointed to learn about their classmate’s false accusations.

“I think that it’s terrible that someone would want to start lying about something like that,” student Monica Florez said.

“I feel like as a country we need to try to get away from that whole race issue,” student Karl Hinshaw added. “But unfortunately things happen every day.”

The incident follows a similar situation that unfolded at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the hours after Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 election. The 18-year-old Middle Eastern student told police two men – one wearing a white Trump hat – yelled racial obscenities at her as she walked down Smith Street near campus around 11 a.m. before knocking her down and stealing her wallet and hijab, the Associated Press reports.

The alleged attack prompted strong words from the UL-Lafayette Muslim Student Association and gained national media attention before police realized the unnamed teen made up the entire story.

“During the course of the investigation, the female complaintant admitted that she fabricated the story about her physical attack as well as the removal of her hijab and wallet by two white males,” the Lafayette Police Department said in a news release cited by The Daily Advertiser.
