WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic presidential front runner Hillary Clinton has a lot of ideas on how to fix the country’s increasingly expensive higher education system, though the details get a bit confusing.
Even Bill and Chelsea can’t seem to keep it all straight.

“We got to be able to educate and train all Americans for the jobs they need, and they can’t be bankrupted trying to get it,” former President Clinton said in a recent ABC News broadcast posted to YouTube today.
“She proposes debt free education for people who go to public colleges, historic black colleges and universities, and other private small schools that have modest tuition, high graduation rates and deal with first- and second-generation Americans of all kinds,” he said.
“By asking people to pay higher taxes to pay for all of the tuition plus the expenses of people who are lower income, offering people who need some help but not complete help the opportunity to do 10 hours of work study work per month, it’s the only proposal that will hold down college costs …”
Bill Clinton’s comments at an SEIU gathering Thursday are reportedly as misleading as his daughter’s take on the plan, which Chelsea discussed at a campaign stop in Wisconsin last week.

“She says going forward she believes that anyone should be able to graduate from school debt free, public universities or private universities, debt free,” Chelsea said of her mother’s “debt-free” college plan in a different YouTube video posted by the Washington Free Beacon Tuesday. “And for public universities that students who come from working class, middle class families should be able to go tuition free. But families who come from wealthier backgrounds should pay into the system.”
The Free Beacon explained where Chelsea went wrong.
“Hillary Clinton’s plan does not include private debt-free education. Instead, it features mechanisms that give students attending private schools options for lowering their debt, such as a ‘no-loan’ state incentive program and lower student loan interest rates,” according to the news site.
Also, “Hillary Clinton’s plan does not allow all lower- and middle-class families to go to school tuition-free. Instead, it examines low- and low-to-middle class students on a case-by-case basis and allows some to qualify for no or low tuition.”
Essentially, Clinton’s college affordability plan is just like Bernie Sanders’ free college plan, The Washington Post reports.
And Bill Clinton didn’t do much better presenting his wife’s plan, the Free Beacon reports.
Like Chelsea, Bill Clinton alleged his wife is championing debt-free education at private schools, which isn’t exactly accurate. He’s also misleading folks about the proposed work study requirements.
“Clinton … mistakenly said that his wife’s plan requires low-income students to work 10 hours per month when it requires 10 hours per week,” according to the news site.
