From staff reports
CHICAGO – The United Neighborhood Organization, or UNO, is continuing its tradition of naming classrooms in its Veterans Memorial School after fallen heroes.
The charter school group issued a statement:
“To commemorate the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, UNO celebrated the true meaning of a day that has become synonymous with the kick-off to the Summer season, time off from work, and barbecue grills.
“However, UNO, along with its students and families of the UNO Veterans Memorial School Campus, honored the occasion with its now-traditional classroom naming ceremony dedicated to American war veterans.
“This Memorial Day, please keep in mind the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our liberties that we too often take for granted.
“If you encounter a soldier, please take time to say ‘Thank you.’”
