BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. – Police allege Alabama high school teacher Ashley Parkins Pruitt sent pictures of her lady parts to students, and engaged in sexual acts with at least two of them.

Pruitt, 28, was put on paid administrative leave Nov. 6 after police contend she engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with students over the previous three months, including sending photos of her breasts and vagina to students over Snapchat and taking two of them parking to make out, AL.com reports.

“We’re just so disappointed,” Blount County school superintendent James Carr told the news site. “These are the people we entrust our young people to.”

Pruitt was a teacher at Appalachian High School for the last year, but previously taught at Locust Fork and Susan Moore high schools and coached a junior high basketball team.

She turned herself in to police this week to face three felonies and two misdemeanors related to incidents in August, September and October, with students in the school district, though it’s unclear whether the victims were in her classes, according to media reports.

Authorities allege Pruitt sent pictures explicit pictures of herself and carried on sexually explicit conversations with students under the age of 19, and professed her desire to take the virginity of one student.

In another instance, Pruitt allegedly engaged in oral sex with a student in a vehicle in Oneonta. She is also accused of kissing and making out with a third student in a vehicle in Oneonta, AL.com reports.

“Pruitt, who is married with a young son, is charged with two counts of providing pornography to a minor, two counts of sex act with a student, (and) one count of sex contact with a student,” according to the site.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Carr said. “We’ve had to face this too many times.”

Two other district teachers, both from Susan Moore High School, have also faced similar charges this year.

Chrystal Gilliland Clowdus, 32, pleaded guilty to transmitting obscene material to a minor in March for sexual text messages she sent to a 15-year-old male student. She received a 10-year sentence, with nine suspended, AL.com reports.

Warren Kelly, 42, was charged with harassment and second-degree sexual abuse for allegations he inappropriately touched a female student in 2013, but the case was dismissed in July after the victim did not show up for a non-jury trial.

Kelly was reinstated to his position when that case fell apart, according to the news site.

The reoccurring problem of teachers sexually abusing students is drawing a lot of criticism online.

“Sounds like Blount County needs to do a little professional development …” tidegrad03 posted.

Superintendent “Carr should be indicted and then fired,” notsusan wrote. “There are far too many episodes of this still (going on) in Blount County.

“There are teachers, coaches, and administrators in several of the (Blount County schools) that have or are engaging in hanky panky.”

Others simply expressed sympathy for the alleged victims – including Pruitt’s husband and child.

“What is wrong with that woman, those are little boys,” thatsludiculous commented. “Her poor husband.”

“I wonder … what this woman thinks about her child’s teachers (if the child is in school),” experienced wrote. “Does she trust them to be mandatory reporters? Or is she ok with her child being exposed to female educators who may be predators?”
