RIALTO, Calif. – A California school accountant was allegedly busted for smuggling students’ lunch money out of the district in her lady under garments.

Lunch money theifJudith Oakes, 48, a district accountant with Rialto, California schools, was allegedly caught on camera stuffing her brassiere with bills from school lunch proceeds, and authorities believe she’s taken millions over the last seven years, the New York Daily News reports.

“Obviously she had access to large sums of money and she was able to possess those large sums of money and get them out of the building,” Rialto police Capt. Randy De Anda told CBS.

Oakes, a 25-year employee who made $60,000 annually, is believed to have embezzled up to $3 million in school lunch money. When police went to her house, they allegedly found thousands of dollars in stolen cash, although she has not yet been charged with a crime, the news station reports.

“The district is continuing to work closely with law enforcement to make sure that those criminally responsible are identified and prosecuted,” district officials said in a statement, according to CBS. “We are taking all appropriate actions to recover the lost funds.”

De Anda told CBS the bra smuggler may have committed the largest white-collar crime Rialto police have ever investigated.

CBS reports Oakes resigned once she was accused of stealing the school lunch funds.

A neighbor of Oakes told CBS she was surprised by the allegations.

“I could not believe it. I still can not believe it,” the neighbor said. “She’s good people. I really don’t have nothing bad to say about her.”

Authorities have not yet released video footage that allegedly shows Oakes stuffing her bra with bills. The embezzlement investigation involves local and federal authorities, because Oakes handled federal funds, CBS reports.
