MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke joined CNN recently to suggest that New York Mayor Bill de Blasio disavow Al Sharpton if he wants to take a strong first step in repairing relations with the NYPD.

“Al Sharpton is a vulgar human being,” said Clarke. “He is divisive and spews hate.”

The sheriff also referred to Sharpton as a “race hustler.”

Clarke specifically mentioned President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and de Blasio, accusing them of creating a “pathway” for “unjustified hatred towards the police.” He said it was done for “purely political purposes.”

The sheriff took aim at the #BlackLivesMatter slogan to say that American police officers believe the most that Black Lives Matter as they seek to protect and serve communities plagued by crime.

Clarke said in 2012 and 2013, 80 percent of the murder victims in Milwaukee are black. Of the suspects, 75 percent are black.

“It’s the black-on-black homicide we ought to be outraged about,” he told CNN.

The high-profile cases are a “sliver” of what is going on in the ghettos today, according to Clarke.

“When I hear these things that black lives matter, the only people that really believe that statement are the American police officers who go into American ghettos everyday to keep people from killing each other.”
