Kyle Olson, Publisher; Founder & CEO – Archive »

Kyle is founder of Education Action Group and EAGnews.org, a news service dedicated to education reform and school spending research, reporting, analysis and commentary.

He is co-author of Glenn Beck’s “Conform: Exposing the Truth About Common Core and Public Education,” available at Amazon.com.

Kyle is a contributor to Townhall.com.

He has made appearances on the Fox News Channel, The Blaze, Fox Business Network, NPR and MSNBC. Kyle has given scores of interviews on talk radio programs coast to coast.

Kyle likes talking about his family, as well as his favorite music. Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young and Johnny Cash are at the top of the list. He has attended 25 Bob Dylan shows.

Steve Gunn, Editor-in-Chief – Archive »

Steve Gunn, Editor-in-Chief, has a background in print journalism. He worked 15 years as an award-winning political, local government and general assignment reporter for the Muskegon (MI) Chronicle. Prior to that he served for five years as an award-winning sports reporter and columnist for the same newspaper.

He is also a weekly columnist for the Chronicle.

Steve has a Bachelors degree in history, with a separate completed communications major, from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

 

Victor Skinner, Communications Specialist – Archive »

Victor Skinner is an award winning journalist who has written for several daily newspapers including the Utica, New York Observer-Dispatch, the Muskegon Chronicle, the Traverse City Record-Eagle, and the Grand Rapids Press. He has a bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism from Syracuse University at Utica College in upstate New York, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2005.

He has placed in the Associated Press and Michigan Press Association news writing contests. He also garnered several competitive writing grants and scholarships while attending Utica College.

Victor lives in Norton Shores with his wife Amanda. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, boating, scuba diving, camping, disc golfing, skim boarding, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.

 

Ben Velderman, Communications Specialist – Archive »

Ben VeldermanBen spent two years as an alternative school teacher before pursing a journalism career. That experience made him appreciate how difficult teaching is, and how valuable effective teachers really are.

Ben holds an undergraduate degree from Hope College and a Master’s degree from Michigan State University. He is also a former member of the Michigan Education Association.

 

Kelly Olson, Operations Manager

Kelly Olson is a graduate of Western Michigan University earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Social Work. Through her experiences working with families in the social worker role, she became passionate about children receiving a quality education regardless of where they may live, or what circumstances they have at home. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family and playing soccer and softball.
 

 Alissa Mack, Research Specialist and Website Administrator

AlissaMarshAlissa graduated from Grand Valley State University in December 2013 with her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Minor in Philosophy. With her interest in Public Policy, specifically education reform, she is pleased to be working for EAG. She believes it is vital that every child has the opportunity to have a good education that will prepare them for college and a career. In her free time, Alissa enjoys spending time with her family, camping, reading, and spending time at Lake Michigan.
