Des Moines teachers seek 7.5 percent raise

DES MOINES, Iowa – The teachers union for the state’s largest school district is seeking a 7.5 percent raise and the creation of a wellness program for educators in the upcoming school year.


NY Gov. to UFT: settle on new teacher evaluations, or else

NEW YORK – New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week issued an ultimatum to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew: agree on a new teacher evaluation system or the state will impose one.
